비오는 날

날은 춥고, 어둡고, 쓸쓸합니다.

비는 내리고 바람은 그칠 줄 모릅니다.

담쟁이 덩굴은 허물어져가는 담벼락에

여전히 매달려 있습니다.

그러나, 바람이 세게 불 때마다 잎은 떨어지고,

날은 어둡고, 쓸쓸합니다.

 

내 인생은 춥고, 어둡고, 쓸쓸합니다.

비는 내리고 바람은 그칠줄 모릅니다.

내 생각은 허물어지는 과거에 여전히 매달려 있습니다.

하지만, 젊은 날의 꿈은 불어오는 질풍에 떨어져 쌓여만 갑니다.

그리고 날은 어둡고, 쓸쓸합니다.

 

 

조용하시오! 슬퍼하는 이여,

불평을 그치시오!

구름 뒤에는 여전히 밝은 태양이 비치고 있질 않소?

그대의 운명도 모든 이들의 운명과 다름없는것.

각 사람의 삶에 어느 정도의 비는 내리는 것.

   얼마간의 날은 어둡고 쓸쓸할 때도 있는 법!

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the moldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the moldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,

재수시절 학원 첫 영어 수업시간, 선생님은 이 영시 한편으로 나의 마음에 격려와 용기와 희망을 불어 넣어줬다.

그후 이 시는 볼 때마다 지금도 살아있어 내 마음을 힘차게 두드린다.
